Choosing a Bagpipe

things to consider - questions to ask

If you are new to bagpiping then you may well be confused by the abundance of terms you're not sure of the meaning of, and the number of things that need considering. I've put together a collection of videos that discuss some of these things, but most crucially you need to know

  • what kind of music you want to play, medieval, traditional Scottish, Traditonal English, Rock and Roll; 

  • where you plan to play it - especially indoors or out?

  • what pitch are you looking for - low or high?

  • what keys are you  mostly likely to play in
