2003. This photo highlights a special happening that went almost entirely unnoticed.
The Johanneau sisters, who ran the village shop until 2000, had never, ever, had time to visit the festival park during the festival. For 360 days in the year they ran a shop for a village of a couple of hundred people. However in mid July each year 500 to 1000 potential customers descended on the village, so the festival was time when the sisters were run off their feet. They served, with welcoming warmth and politeness and would always enquire about whether I was having good custom at my stall, even though they had never seen it! However in 2003 Marcel was finally encouraged to visit the festival and here she is looking at some of my post cards.
